The Beginning: Challenges and Solutions The soil at Acharya Tulsi School was extremely rocky, making plantation seem almost impossible. However, under the leadership and initiative of Principal Mandeep Ji, this seemingly impossible task was set in motion. Excavating a two-foot-deep layer of the rocky ground required calling in a JCB machine, and it took considerable effort. Despite the difficulties, the team accomplished this through sheer dedication and hard work.

Land Preparation and Improvement After excavation, the land preparation process began. To make the soil fertile, a mixture of coco peat, rice husk, and manure was added to it. This greatly improved the quality of the soil and provided proper nutrition for the plants. This step highlights how scientific knowledge and informed action can turn even barren land into lush greenery.
Reviving and Cleaning the Old Garden The school premises already had a garden-like area, which had become wild and neglected over time. The first step was to clean and clear this spot. Overgrown shrubs and weeds were removed, making the land reusable for plantation. This act of cleanliness not only made the area pleasant but also created a healthier environment for new plants.

Protection and Maintenance Because the school garden was situated right next to the playground, balls and other objects frequently ended up in the garden, potentially damaging the plants. To prevent this, fencing was installed around the entire garden. Additionally, a 200-meter-long water pipe was provided to the school authorities to ensure that the plants received timely watering. This system ensured that the garden was irrigated regularly. Special attention was paid to the garden’s maintenance. A dedicated gardener was employed to water and care for the plants, receiving a monthly salary. This small but important decision played a significant role in ensuring the garden’s longevity.
