Plantation projects in cities are not just about putting trees in the ground. They bring hope, teamwork, teach us to care for the environment, and show when people come together for greener nature they can do their best for nature.
At GSB Court School in Sector 6, RK Puram, one such project took place. The school made a decision to start a plantation, but it faced so many common problems of planting in city areas. Even with these difficulties, the project slowly turned into a success. This impossible thing is possible because of the team’s hard work, and collaboration.

The Beginning of a Greener Journey : With choosing a site GSB Court School allocated land next to the playground for planting trees. This location was perfect for the planting because the greenery would be close to the students, it would help to make the school grounds fresher, healthier, and more beautiful.
The school was part of the first three chosen for a special plantation project. The purpose of this project is to increase green spaces in schools and teach students the value of caring for the environment, How to work to keep the environment healthy.
The site is perfect for our project, but along with the possibility came challenges that would soon test the patience and determination of everyone involved in this task.

First Rain Brings Trouble: A setback
Quickly after the planting, the monsoon rains started.
Normally, rain helps young plants by giving them the water they need to grow. But this time, it caused unexpected problems.
At the time of the very first shower, parts of the plantation site faced heavy soil erosion. In some spots, the soil went down deeply. Because of this, many young saplings in the project — were either washed away or hidden under the shifting soil.
It was a very bad moment for everyone. However, the team did not give up. Realizing the soil and site were fragile, they quickly started planning ways to fix the damage and protect the plants.
The team immediately planned solutions, recognizing the site’s fragility and its soil. They focused on rehabilitation, which included replantation and soil replenishment.
